Gowda was known as the ‘Encyclopaedia of Forests’ and ‘Tree Goddess’ by her tribe because of her knowledge of forests.
Tulsi Gowda, Padma Shri awardee, and renowned environmentalist known as ‘Vriksha Mate’ (Mother of Trees) passed away on Monday (December 16, 2024) at her residence in Honali village, Ankola taluk, Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka. She was 86 years old and was suffering from age related diseases.
