NCERT reduced the price of textbooks for high school students by 20%

New Delhi: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) on Monday announced a 20 per cent cut in the price of textbooks for classes 9 to 12 with effect from the next academic year.
NCERT Director Dinesh Prasad Sakal announced this in a program here. Speaking at a program, Saklani said that this is the first time that the price of textbooks has been drastically reduced.
“This year, NCERT has brought a lot of efficiency in paper procurement and has also onboarded printers with latest printing machines. NCERT has decided to pass on this benefit to the students of the country,” Saklani said.
“For the coming academic year, NCERT will retail all textbooks for classes 9-12 at 20 per cent less than the current price. This is unprecedented in the history of NCERT,” he added.
Meanwhile, textbooks for classes 1 to 8 will continue to retail at Rs 65 per copy.
Saklani said this during the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the auditorium at the NCERT headquarters.
He presided over the program Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. During the event, an MoU was signed between NCERT and Flipkart to widen the reach of NCERT textbooks.
NCERT publishes 4-5 crore textbooks on about 300 titles every year.
NCERT has recently expanded its reach by partnering with e-commerce platforms like Amazon, further facilitating nationwide access to authentic textbooks.
