Visakhapatnam: According to the latest update from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a well-marked low pressure system over the Bay of Bengal near the Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu coast is expected to weaken within the next 24 hours. IMD Amravati has forecast rainfall of varying intensity in different districts next week.
In North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, isolated heavy rains are likely over Srikakulam, Parvathipuram Manyam, and Vizianagaram districts during the coming days, with less intensity. Meanwhile, the southern coastal region, especially SPSR Nellore, is on alert for isolated heavy rains on December 26. Other districts including Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam are expected to remain largely dry.
Recent meteorological data shows that Kalingpatnam has recorded the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours at 3.0 mm, followed by Ongole at 1.0 mm. 0.3 mm has fallen in Amravati and Kavli. Temperature differences were significant, with Kalingapatnam at 22.0 °C, Visakhapatnam at 23.7 °C, Kadapa at 24.4 °C, Tirupati at 25.2 °C, and Kakinada at 26.2 °C.
The IMD continues to closely monitor the system and has advised caution in areas where heavy rain is likely.
