Christmas brightened by a musical treat

Singer B Arundhati and team performing ‘Trimadhuram’ at Rapadi Open Air Auditorium in Palakkad on Wednesday evening.

Carnatic singer and playback singer B Arundhati and her two sons Srikanth Hariharan and Charu Hariharan presented ‘Trimadhuram’, a unique musical gift, to the people of Palakkad on Christmas evening on Wednesday, the fifth day of the ongoing Swaralaya Syndication. Dance Festival.

After Arundhati said that they had done a concert together for the first time, the audience at the Rapadi Open Air Auditorium applauded. They mostly stuck to the classical base, but some popular movie songs made them popular with the youth. While Charu mastered the mridangam, Arvind Krishna accompanied him on the tabla. The mix of tabla and mridangam took some of the songs to a different level.

Arya Dutt and Sumesh Anand excelled on violin and keyboard respectively. Of the dozens of songs sung by Arundhati and Srikanth, half were purely classical and the rest semi-classical.

Srikanth gave a different feel to MS Baburaj’s popular song ‘Surumayezhuthiya Mizhikale’ with tabla and mridangam backup. Its hilly melody made the audience nostalgic.

‘Real Gods’

Writer Mundoor Sethumadhavan inaugurated the Christmas evening celebration. Speaking on the occasion, he said that art is the real god and music and dance help to find humanity. In the program, Swaralaya, neurovascular sonologist and president of Umed Superspeciality Hospital M. Pradeep was honored.

A 40-member choir led by TD Simon presented Christmas carols, followed by a Thiruvathira performance by the Lions’ Women’s Wing.
