Reacting to the RSS chief’s statement, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X that it reflected a discrepancy between “his words and actions”.
“If the RSS chief is really sincere about his words, he should publicly declare that in future the Sangh will never support such leaders who threaten social harmony,” Mr. Ramesh added, “but they are not saying this because temple-mosque construction is being done at the behest of the RSS.
In many cases, he said, “those inciting such divisive issues and creating riots have links with the RSS”.
“They belong to Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad or BJP and RSS helps them completely from hiring lawyers to filing cases. It is clear that Mr. Bhagwat’s statement is only to mislead the society. He thinks that such things wash away the sins of RSS, improve its image. But his reality is before the country,’ added Ramesh.
