A meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday approved the construction of Legislative Assembly and High Court buildings, five iconic towers, trunk and LPS (Land Pooling Scheme) roads. 24,276 crore at a total cost.

There are plans to construct an Assembly and High Court building in Amravati on 103 acres and 42 acres at a cost of Rs 765 crore and Rs 1,049 crore (total Rs 1,814 crore) respectively.

Informing the media about the decisions of the APCRDA meeting, Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayan said that the Legislative Assembly building will be a 250 meter high tower and people will be able to live in 11 lakh 22 lakh square feet. When the legislature is not in session, climb the tower to get a view of the capital.

The High Court building G+7 will be a 55-metre tall structure, with a built-up area of ​​20.32 lakh sft, the minister said.

The five iconic towers will have a total area of ​​68,88,064 sft and will be constructed at a cost of ₹ 4,688 crore. Among the five structures is GAD Tower which will have G+47 floors, with a total area of ​​17,03,433 sft. These towers will house the offices of ministers, secretaries, heads of departments and their staff.

Also, the APCRDA meeting approved the laying of 579.50 km LPS road with sewerage and drinking water lines, storm water drains and electrical and telecom cables at a total cost of Rs 9,699 crore.

Mr. Narayan said that the cost of construction of government buildings has increased by 49.02 percent since the financial year 2017-18 when tenders were called for the first time after Amravati was designated as the capital. The cost of iconic tower, flood canal and LPS work has increased by 41%, 39% and 28% to 35% respectively.
