Sharad Pawar calls Devendra Fadnavis to discuss Parbhani violence and killing of Beed sarpanch

Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) ((NCP (SP)) President Sharad Pawar on Sunday (December 22, 2024) held a telephonic conversation with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding the killing of a sarpanch and subsequent death of a person in Beed. Violence in Parbhani.

Mr. Pawar on Saturday (December 21, 2024) met the families of Santosh Deshmukh, the slain sarpanch and Somnath Suryavanshi, who died in judicial custody after being arrested in connection with the Parbhani violence. The CPN (SP) chief participated in the Bhimathadi Jatra at the College of Agriculture in the city on Sunday (December 22, 2024).

During the program, he called the Chief Minister and asked him to pay attention to the incident of Beed and Parbhani. Mr. Fadnavis on Friday (December 20, 2024) announced a judicial inquiry into the Parbhani violence and the killing of the sarpanch and financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to the relatives of Deshmukh and Suryavanshi.

Speaking to reporters in Pune, Mr. Pawar said, “I spoke to the Chief Minister about the places I visited yesterday. I told him that the situation is serious and asked him to look into the issue.” The senior politician said he had also invited Mr Fadnavis to the 98th All India Marathi Sahitya Sammelan (Marathi Sahitya Sammelan) in Delhi.

Last week, after the replica of the constitution was vandalized, the movement in Parbhani turned violent and Suryavanshi, who was arrested in this connection, died in judicial custody. Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh of Masajog village in Beed was abducted and murdered on December 9, 2024.
