Days after a viral video of an influencer throwing a bundle of ₹20,000 cash on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) road and challenging onlookers to participate in a cash hunt, the Ghatkesar police arrested him.
The reckless stunt has caused chaos, significant inconvenience and serious threat to road safety, Rachakonda police said.
Acting in the viral video, Rachakonda Police Commissioner G Sudhir Babu directed the Ghatkesar police to take immediate action. After investigation, the police identified Bhanuchandra and arrested him. A case has been filed against him for irresponsible behavior that endangers life and disturbs public order.
“Social media should be used to inspire and educate, not for reckless actions that put others at risk,” the commissioner said. “We urge individuals to use their platforms responsibly and consider the consequences of their actions,” he said.
The incident sparked widespread condemnation on social media platforms, with many criticizing Bhanuchander for setting a dangerous example for others.
Rachakonda Police has appealed to the general public to inform about such incidents while stressing the importance of creating responsible content on social media.
