We’ve all been there—feeling tempted to attend events, pay extra for food and drinks, and talk about inflated prices but never actually do. However, a techie from Hyderabad recently decided to speak up, and his post has gained a lot of traction on social media.
Pallab Dey shared his dismay at the maximum retail price (MRP) of water bottles being sold at Rs 100 at Rs 10. Blaming Zomato for this, Dey wrote, “How is Zomato allowed to sell Rs 10 bottles of water at Rs 100 at concert venues? Where one is not allowed to bring his own bottle?” Along with his post, he included a picture showing the steep price he paid for two bottles. He also tagged a Telangana High Court lawyer for good measure.

In response, Zomato said, “Hi Pallab, we apologize for your experience. We were a ticketing partner and not an event organizer, we have noted your feedback and will ensure that it helps us further our own events.”
Day didn’t stop there. He tagged Eva Line, the organizer of the event and said, “Tagging Eva Live, who was the organizer of the event and they paid Rs. 10 bottles Rs. 100.” He also shared a photo of the bottle with a price tag showing MRP Rs 10.

The post went viral and many X users expressed their support for the techie.
One user commented, “It’s very common here, at concerts and any big event. They rob you on their own terms. People take their beer at Lord’s ground but can’t take water at Indian ground.
Another user wrote, ‘This is not fancy, this is straight up theft and everyone should raise their voice against this person. A third person commented, “They will change the MRP definition overnight from maximum to minimum retail price.”
