The Mumbai High Court on Wednesday (Dec 18, 2024) expressed displeasure over illegal hoardings and banners in Mumbai, noting that civic authorities have not taken concrete measures despite “clear and unambiguous” instructions. The court noted that political parties seem to “lack recognition” of the orders issued by it.
A bench of Chief Justice Devendra Upadhyay and Justice Amit Borkar took note of several photographs submitted by advocate Manoj Shirasat on behalf of activist Joru Bhathena.
The photographs depicted “a sprawl of hoardings” at several places, including one in front of the court complex in the Fort area, after the announcement of the Maharashtra assembly elections. The bench is hearing a petition against illegal hoarding.
