Two houses were raided, three kilos of ganja were seized and an attempt was made to arrest the accused

Excise Department personnel recovered the accused and a portion of marijuana in Hyderabad on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.

A state task force under the Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department raided two houses in Hyderabad on Wednesday and seized about three kilograms of ganja.

In the first incident, 1.47 kg of ganja was recovered from the house of Kishna Singh in Dhulpet. Based on the information, the police reached the house and arrested Kishna Singh and Vikas Singh and registered a case against their friends Indresh Singh, Neet Bai, Gautam Singh and Gobind Singh. Efforts are being made to search for them.

In another incident, 1.44 kg of ganja was recovered from a house in Laldarwaja. P. is accused of being involved in the business of marijuana from this place. A case was registered against Nagaraju, Ujwala Saikumar Raju, K Saujanya and Sheikh Ghulam.

Meanwhile, the officers of West Zone Task Force and Banjara Hills Police have arrested 21-year-old S. Premkumar and two consumers who bought drugs from him in a joint operation. Two kilos of hashish were recovered from him.

According to the police, animation operator Prem Kumar bought ganja from a person named Shankar of Narasipatnam in Visakhapatnam. He brought the drugs to Banjara Hills, repackaged them in small packets and tried to sell them at an easy profit.

Unpaid liquor seized

In another operation, the STF seized 35 non-duty-paying liquor bottles worth ₹ 1.05 lakh during a raid at M/S Heart Cup Cafe Restaurant and Bar in Medchal. The bar allegedly sold bottles of liquor obtained from liquor shops in the area.

“Bottles of vodka and whiskey were barcoded in the bar. The liquor bottles bearing the name of the bar came from a liquor store in another locality. Instead of buying liquor locally from the depot, the bar owner bought it from a liquor store to evade taxes,” Assistant Commissioner R Kishan said.

A case has been registered against the bar owner and an investigation is underway.
