Power discom BSES has donated 27 electric buses to AIIMS New Delhi under its corporate social responsibility programme, to be used for running a free shuttle service within the campus for patients and staff members.
A fleet of 11 buses was flagged off on Wednesday at a function organized at AIIMS by M Srinivas, director of the institution, and BSES officials. The remaining e-buses will be flagged off by March 31, 2025, the hospital said in a statement.
“AIIMS New Delhi is grateful to BSES for its generous donation of 27 e-shuttles. This significant contribution will greatly enhance the mobility of our staff and patients within the AIIMS campus, promoting a greener and more efficient healthcare environment,” said Srinivas.
20 of the 27 buses will serve patients and their families, while seven are designated for doctors and other staff, ensuring smooth and efficient movement within the hospital premises, which averages over 10,000 daily visitors.
AIIMS has around 1,000 doctors and faculty, and 8,000 paramedical staff, the statement added.
