MUMBAI: Two-wheeler driver dies after collision with Wet-Lease Best bus Mumbai News

A 25-year-old two-wheeler driver was killed when he was hit by a BEST wet lease bus near the Shivaji Nagar Junction highway bus stop on Saturday night.

The incident took place at 11:30 pm when the bus operating on Route 375 was going from Shivaji Nagar to Kurla Bus Depot. A two-wheeler driver named Dixit Vinod Rajput suddenly hit the right rear tire of the bus.

Rajput’s head was seriously injured due to the collision.

The local police arrived immediately and took the injured rider to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar, but the driver Vinod Abaji Rankhambe (39), who was declared dead on arrival at 12:16, was taken into custody by the police.

The bus was running from Shivaji Nagar depot under wet lease model, managed by BVG Group. BVG Group officials, along with BEST officials, said they were cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Police are reviewing the circumstances of the accident to determine responsibility for the incident.

The incident took place a day after the Best Bus driver lost control and hit 22 vehicles in Kurla, killing 7 people.
