Speaking to reporters in Madhya Pradesh’s Agar Malwa district on Saturday (Dec 21, 2024), Mr Singh also denied allegations against Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of “pushing and shoving” BJP MPs in the Lok Sabha premises on Thursday.

Two ‘One Nation, One Election’ (ONOE) Bills, including the bill to amend the Constitution, have been introduced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday after a heated debate.

On Friday (December 20), the Lok Sabha sent two bills to the Joint Committee of Parliament (JPC) to conduct simultaneous elections.

To a question on the ONOE bills, Digvijay Singh said, “The JPC has already been formed and I don’t think it will be passed.” On Thursday, an FIR was registered against Rahul Gandhi at the Parliament Street police station following a complaint by the BJP after MPs Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput were injured, accusing him of physical assault and incitement.

The Congress has vehemently denied the claim, with BJP MPs hitting out at Congress chief Mallikarjuna Kharge and accusing him of “physically handling” Gandhi.

When asked about the allegations against Gandhi of “pushing and pushing” BJP MPs, Singh called them completely false.

“This is absolutely wrong. There was push and shove among BJP leaders,” the former state chief minister claimed.

“One BJP MP fell on another. Both were injured. The one who fell said that Rahul Gandhi was standing in front of him. Could he have pushed him if he was standing in front?” he asked.

Notably, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat has recently expressed concern over the revival of several temple-mosque disputes and after the construction of the Ayodhya Ram temple, some people seem to believe that they can become leaders of Hindus by taking up such issues.

Asked about Bhagwat’s statement, Mr. Singh said, “If we talk about such people who want to become leaders by talking about the Hindu-Muslim issue, the biggest proof in front of them is Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Why is he not? Explain to him (Modi)?”

Bhagwat is only making statements but “why is he silent when atrocities are being committed against Muslims,” the Congress leader claimed.

On another question, Mr. Singh said that such statements of Mr. Bhagwat are positive, but he should stop the organizations related to the Sangh.

“Why don’t Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal their organizations (affiliated with the Sangh) stop them?” The Congress leader asked.
