All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary KC Venugopal, MP to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan Union Home Minister about late Dr. BR Ambedkar, the distinguished chairman of the Indian Constitution Drafting Committee Dared to condemn Amit Shah’s allegedly derogatory remarks.
In Thiruvananthapuram, Mr. Venugopal told reporters that Mr. Vijayan seemed “scared” to take on Mr. Shah and was sweating around the controversy.
He said that the MPs of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) insultingly linked Dr. He has insulted Ambedkar.
Mr. Venugopal said the Congress would show Mr. Shah’s “insulting” speech in Parliament in village and city squares. “Rather than chanting Shriman Dr. Ambedkar repeatedly, heaven is safer by chanting God’s name,” he added.
He said that Indian democracy is under threat. The BJP-led central government systematically whitewashed the independence of the Election Commission of India (ECI’s).
For one, the Union government replaced the Chief Justice with a cabinet minister on the panel to select the Chief Election Commissioner of India. The Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition were other members. “The reorganization of the panel has stacked the decks in favor of the BJP’s candidate for the top constitutional post”, he said.
Mr. Venugopal said that the Central Government had recently amended the Election Conduct Rules to restrict public access to the final voter list.
He said the BJP’s move came after the Bharat-Bloc petitioned the ECI to release election records, particularly details of last-minute voting, related to the recent elections in Maharashtra and Haryana.
Mr. Venugopal said the Center had hastily revised the election conduct rules after the Haryana High Court ordered the ECI to release documents sought by India-bloc allies.
Congress workers will meet district collectors of the state and submit signed petitions demanding Mr. Shah’s resignation. They will stage protests across the state and screen Mr. Shah’s speeches in village and city squares.
