IAS officer shares 8 tech tools to help you prepare for IIT, UPSC and other exams

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is one of the most challenging exams conducted in India, attempted by thousands of aspirants from every corner of the country every year.

Thus referring right books and resources is very important for preparation.

In a tweet thread, IAS Divya Mittal shares some technology tools that can help candidates prepare for UPSC as well as other competitive exams.


Divya, who proved her mettle by cracking some of the toughest exams in the country like UPSC, JEE and CAT, is currently serving as the District Magistrate of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh.

Here are the eight technology tools on the IAS officer’s list:

1. Print friendly

Print Friendly helps optimize saving of webpages in PDF format, removes junk, and has an editable preview that helps delete irrelevant information.

2. Little Wow

Tiny Wow helps you edit photos and PDF files and convert them to different formats. It offers many tools to process PDF files – edit, split, merge, compress etc. It can also be used to make notes.

3. Google Keep

It’s a note-taking service that helps you manage your time efficiently with options to check entries and voice memos that automatically transcribe text as you go. It can quickly search notes by color and allows you to quickly find what you’re looking for.

4. Perception

This technology is used to organize device information. It has many uses, from making notes, capturing ideas, managing projects, to automatically saving tweets and threads.

5. WolframAlpha

WolframAlpha can help students well in preparing for the math section of the exam. It provides step-by-step solutions to algebra and plotting tasks. It also helps in preparation for Chemistry, Physics, Finance and Geography.

6. ChatGPT

It is an AI tool that can be used to generate ideas for various essays and other long-form answers. According to Divya, it is your “customized assistant” to answer all your queries.

7. Dictation.io

It is a free online speech recognition software that allows you to take notes and organize information. Aspirants can use it to write emails, documents and essays using voice narration and without typing. It allows users to make notes in multiple languages ​​including English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati etc.

8. Blackout

Given that these devices increase productivity and daily screen time, it is advisable to use a blackout or similar device to block the Internet for at least six hours. This time can be utilized in studies. Although it is not a free mobile application, it is very effective.

“Technology is a major game changer these days. You have to use it to your advantage,” says Divya.
