Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh has said that the Central Government will collaborate with various states to improve the living conditions and economic status of weavers.

Speaking after a review meeting with the departmental officials held here on Sunday under the leadership of Savita and Commissioner (Clothing and Handloom) Rekha Rani, Singh said that efforts will be made to expand the market network for the weavers. ‘ also provides products and remuneration prices for them.

Mr. Singh reiterated the government’s resolve to meet the educational and healthcare needs of the weaving community. In this regard, he said that handloom must be given priority and protected from the attack of powerloom.

Ms. Savita apprised the Union Minister about steps taken to improve cotton yield and storage, increase productivity and improve status of jute production. She requested the Center to sanction ₹ 200 crore for mini textile clusters in Chirla, Mangalagiri, Venkatagiri, Mylavaram and Yemmiganur.

The minister also submitted a proposal to set up a mega handloom cluster at Dharmavaram in Sri Sathya Sai district at a cost of Rs 35.80 crore and at Pithapuram in Ambedkar Konsima district at a cost of Rs 15 crore, and to construct individual looms and workshops at Penugonda at a cost of Rs 6.27 crore. , setting up a Handloom and Handicrafts Museum at Tullur Mandal at a cost of ₹ 15 crore, and a Mega Textile Park under PM-MITRA at a cost of ₹ 800 crore in an area of ​​1,000 acres.
