The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) proposal to build a 5-km elevated metro corridor to improve connectivity between the Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) in Jewar, which is slated to open early next year, and the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi will be submitted. For Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s approval, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) CEO Arun Veer Singh said on Friday.
βThe Chief Minister will review the proposal. The future of the project depends on how we get the budget,β he added.
DMRC will construct a small corridor between Tughlaqabad and Kalindi Kunj as part of a larger plan to connect Aerocity with Tughlaqabad under a Rs 950 crore project within three years.
“It has also been updated that Aerocity to Tughlaqabad Metro Corridor… work is in advanced stage of construction and its further extension to Kalindi Kunj will provide metro interchange facility with Magenta Line, Blue Line, Aqua Line and proposed new line between Botanical. Gardens and Sector 142 in Noida,β read a December 13 letter from Singh to DMRC’s flagship project. Manager, Shiv Om Dwivedi.
“Initially, the DMRC had prepared a detailed project report to connect NIAL with IGI through an expressway. However, this proposal was dropped after the UP government decided to look at the express rail option – a 72-km corridor connecting Ghaziabad, Greater Noida and Noida Airport,” Singh added.
