The visit was under the Yuva Sangam initiative of the central government.
A team of 60 students from the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh visited Auroville in Tamil Nadu as part of Yuva Sangam Phase-V. Yuva Sangam is an initiative of the Central Government under the Bharat Shrestha Bharat Program which aims to strengthen the bonds between states and promote unity among youth.
National Institute of Technical Teacher Training and Research (NITTTR) is the nodal institution for the visit.
As part of their trip, the students visited Auroville in Villupuram on Saturday. They explored the Sri Aurobindo International Institute of Educational Research (SAIIER), gaining insight into the concept of integral education.
They were also introduced to the ‘Auroville Calling’ programme, an initiative that invites people from all walks of life to participate in volunteer programs within Auroville.
They also visited Matri Mandir, Solar Kitchen, Ekta Mandap and Savitri Bhavan dedicated to Sri Aurobindo.
According to a statement, the primary objective of the initiative is to foster a deeper understanding of India’s rich tapestry – its diverse traditions, historical roots, and core values that bind the nation together.
The visit to Tamil Nadu will provide students with a unique opportunity to explore the nuances of the Tamil language, immerse themselves in the vibrant traditions of the state and cultivate meaningful interactions with the local community, the statement said.
