BJP State President K. Surendran alleged that communal forces were supporting not only Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi but also CPI(M) politburo member A Vijayaraghavan.
Addressing the media here on Sunday, he said that the support of the Congress by the communal forces was not a new revelation. He alleged that both LDF and UDF are contesting elections with the support of communal forces. The BJP leader was reacting to Mr. Vijayaraghavan’s recent comments that the “radical vote” fueled the victory of Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
“Every body knows the reason for Mr. Vijayaraghavan’s recent revelations. CPI(M) has lost the support of the majority community and leaders like Mr. Vijayaraghavan are trying to regain that support by making such comments. His party has an open alliance with outfits like PDP and INL. They Also formed alliance with Popular Front and Jamaat-e-Islami while UDF is in open alliance with Muslim League, SDPI and Jamaat-e-Islami.
CPN is trying to recruit Popular Front workers into the party. Mr. Surendran emphasized that the ideological divide within the CPI(M), especially in places like Kollam and Alappuzha, stems from a single issue. Both CPI(M) and IUML are competing to bring PFI members into their ranks, he said. According to Mr. Surendran, CPM’s secularism is only a mask to deceive the majority community.
