Women have lost 297 thousand in cyber scams

Hyderabad: A 30-year-old housewife lost Rs 2.97 lakh to a cyber fraudster who tricked her into disclosing financial details.

In the complaint, the victim said that she received a call from someone under the guise of an insurance company. The caller falsely told him that the insurance amount would be deducted from his account and to stop this the victim had to download the mobile app from the link provided by the fraudster and enter his banking information.

She did so but immediately informed the bank which blocked her credit card. However, the fraudster used the details to withdraw ₹ 2,97,700. The victim immediately reported the scam to the cybercrime helpline 1930.
