Launching a scathing attack on the Congress over their protest against Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement on BR Ambedkar, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Shah on Wednesday said the opposition party has always been anti-Ambedkar.
In a press conference, he said, ‘Congress has always been anti-Ambedkar. They are still against him. What they are doing now is nothing but a farce. By doing this, they are trying to mislead the people. Now they are demanding rights in the name of Ambedkar.
Shah said that after resigning as a Union minister, Ambedkar was never allowed to speak in Parliament and in his resignation letter he had strongly criticized former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, whom he accused of being suppressed.
“BJP will expose the dark history of Congress in future. Congress did not build any memorial to Dr. Ambedkar. However, after becoming Prime Minister, Narendra Modi built a memorial in his memory. We apologize to Congress for their attitude towards Ambedkar,” Saha said.
The Congress has organized a series of protest rallies in the state demanding an apology for Shah’s resignation and comments he made during the ongoing winter session of the Rajya Sabha.
“It’s now a fashion – Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar… so many names, if God’s name is late, then heaven will be reached. (Nowadays there is a fashion – Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar… If you chant God’s name this many times, you will get heaven in seven births)’, Shah said in response to two questions. -The day’s debate titled 75 Years of Glorious Journey of Constitution of India.
He added, “We are happy that Ambedkar’s name has been taken”, before listing the Congress’s “injustices” in the constitution’s main framework.
Good Governance Day
Later, in a program organized on the occasion of Good Governance Day at Pragya Bhavan, Sah said that the meaning of good governance is to ensure that welfare schemes sponsored by the government reach the last person even in remote areas of the country. He said that the state administration has been made people-oriented to provide government facilities easily.
BJP has been celebrating former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary as Good Governance Day. “He (Vajpayee) was a politician, a poet and a writer. His role in India’s freedom movement was remarkable. His dream was to eradicate corruption from the country. For this purpose, he has taken many initiatives to establish good governance,’ said Shah.
“The central and state governments are coming up with various schemes to address the basic needs of the people. A governance program was undertaken to ensure that these schemes reach the real beneficiaries. Due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, North East is on the path of development. The development of the province is being appreciated in other provinces, it is possible due to good governance,’ said the Chief Minister.
Sah said that since coming to power in 2014, Modi has been working for the people with dedication. “Both the Center and the state governments are working with precision using the ideas of former Prime Minister Vajpayee,” he said.
