New Delhi: Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha leaders and activists staged a protest near AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal’s residence here on Thursday, accusing him of “cheating” Delhi women through the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’. BJP has claimed that AAP had announced a similar plan earlier. Punjab assembly elections but women there could not get Rs 1,100 per month in 2022 as promised by the party.
Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana for monthly payment of Rs 1,000 was announced by the Delhi government in the 2024-25 budget. Kejriwal said if AAP retains power in Delhi, this amount will be increased to Rs 2,100 crore.
Led by BJP Mahila Morcha President Richa Pandey, the protesters marched from Ashok Road to Kejriwal’s residence at 5 Feroz Shah Road but were stopped by the police. Some protesters climbed the barricade and raised slogans against Kejriwal and AAP.
A similar scheme was announced by AAP before the Punjab elections but the party failed to fulfill its promise of Rs 1,100 per month to women in Punjab after coming to power, Pandey said.
Aam Aadmi Party is once again cheating the women of Delhi in the name of ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’, she added.
Assembly elections will be held in Delhi in February next year.
