Speaking at an awareness program organized by DRDA and Energy Department at Tummalapalli Kshetray Kalakshetram, NTR Collector G. Laxmisha urged households to adopt solar energy as it would enable them to access free solar energy with subsidy and pay back their investment in four years.
The collector said, “Now there are 601 Suryaghat connections in the district. By March 2025, a target of 2 lakh connections has been set. He added that Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Sachivalayam will be roped in to sensitize the employees about the benefits of the scheme.
“Solar energy will provide free energy and reduce global warming. Residents can register for Suryaghat connections by logging on to www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Interested residents can visit the nearest secretariat and register,” said Mr. Laxmisha.
“Residents can get 3 KW solar panels worth ₹ 2 lakh with a subsidy of ₹ 78,000. The beneficiary has to pay ₹20,000 and banks will offer a loan for the remaining amount at low interest under the PM Surya Ghat scheme,” the collector said.
“The Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghat Yojana aims to generate 1,000 billion units of electricity and reduce carbon emissions by 720 million tonnes. Beneficiaries will be able to sell each unit at Rs 2.09 after using the required solar energy. In just three months, 500 Surya Ghat households will provide solar energy to the government. After selling it, they got back 22 lakh rupees,’ said Mr. Laxmisha.
“The district administration is informing households about the benefits of PM Suryaghat Yojana and reducing carbon emissions. Cultural groups have been involved in the implementation of the plan to make NTR District No. 1,’ said Mr. Laxmisha. Hindu.
“We are conducting awareness programs for SHG women on the benefits of PM Surya Ghat Yojana. Banks, AP Transco, DRDA, MEPMA and other departments should cooperate to achieve the target,” said the Collector.
