MHADA Housing Lottery: Winners waiting to occupy houses as 1,300 still under construction | Mumbai News

Nearly two months after MHADA’s (Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority) Mumbai board announced the winners of its housing lot, many of them are waiting to occupy their houses – of the 2,030 houses allotted in the lot, 1,327 are still under construction. .

It is estimated that it will take another four to six months to complete the interior work of these houses.

In October, MHADA announced a lottery for 2,030 houses in Mumbai city and suburbs. A total of 1,34,350 online applications were submitted, out of which 1,13,811 applicants participated by paying the deposit. On October 8, the list of winners was announced.

Houses included in the lottery must have an occupancy certificate, while 1,327 houses under construction were still part of the lottery.

Winners have expressed concern about these delays, particularly regarding the inclusion of under-construction homes in the draw. According to MHADA’s guidelines, the houses must have possession certificates before they are included in the lot. Many applicants have questioned whether this rule was followed, as about 65 percent of the houses are incomplete.

Although the lottery process was successfully completed, many winners are questioning when they will actually get possession.

MHADA has assured to complete the interior work within four to six months.

442 winners from this year’s lottery surrendered their houses to MHADA for various reasons, such as winning multiple houses or losing residence certificates.

Of the surrendered houses, 406 were offered to those on the waiting list. MHADA has sent acceptance letters to these applicants, giving them 15 days to confirm their allotment.

For the 13 houses that received minimum interest during the lottery, MHADA plans to re-allot them.

Applicants must now confirm their acceptance through the app or website within the given deadline, making this opportunity a real “lottery win” for those on the waiting list.
