New Delhi: following National Education PolicyDelhi University plans to start a One year postgraduate program In 2026. A draft proposal for this initiative is set to be reviewed Academic Council Meeting on December 27, as outlined in the agenda of the meeting.
Several changes have been included in the plan, but some teachers have criticized the move, accusing it of being rushed into the discussion. DU has already implemented a four-year undergraduate programme, with the third semester currently underway.
Under this framework, students who leave after the first year receive a certificate, those who leave after the second year are awarded a diploma and those who complete three years receive a degree. Students who complete their fourth year receive a degree with honours.
After three years, students can choose an option Two year PG courseThose who have completed four years can enroll in one year PG program. DU is now preparing to implement this system, with separate syllabus developed for one year and two year PG programmes.
Under the one-year PG program, students will earn 22 credits per semester, totaling 44 credits for the degree. For the two-year course, students will earn 88 credits. As per UGC norms, the level for a two-year degree will be 6.5, while a one-year degree will be 7 levels.
