Former Chief Secretary and writer K. Jayakumar has received the Central Sahitya Akademi Award for his collection of poems. Pingalkeshi. The award consists of a purse of Rs 1 lakh, an engraved copper plaque and a shawl which will be handed over at a function in New Delhi on March 8. An artist, lyricist and translator, Mr. Jayakumar has authored several books in his literary career spanning nearly 50 years. He was selected for the award by a jury including Prabha Varma, Kaudiyar Ramachandran and Krishnan Nambuthiri.
