Haryana Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini on Wednesday (December 25, 2024) highlighted the importance of sensitivity and empathy in government administration, urging officials to see their role as an opportunity to uplift society and mitigate challenges faced by common citizens.
Mr. Saini made these remarks at the state-level ‘Good Governance Day’ program organized in Gurugram to mark the birth centenary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Addressing the officials, he said that when someone comes to his office with a problem, they should be recognized not only as a piece of paper but as a symbol of a person’s pain and suffering.
If we can understand the story behind that paper, we will be truly successful in our efforts for good governance, said Mr. Saini.
The Chief Minister paid tributes to Bharat Ratna awardees Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya and Atal Bihari Vajpayee on their birth anniversaries, reflecting on their significant contribution to the nation.
After our government took responsibility for public service in 2014, we launched a governance reform campaign by transforming it from good governance (good governance) to service (service), Mr. Saini said.
He said that the success of such campaign depends on intention, integrity and policy.
The Chief Minister said that the government has successfully completed its journey towards good governance and ensured transparency by adopting various e-governance initiatives like e-auction and e-Ravana schemes.
Furthermore, the implementation of ‘Right to Service’ laws makes public officials accountable, mandates timely service delivery and ensures swift action against those who fail to meet deadlines, thereby strengthening efficiency and accountability in public service.
He said that despite all the obstacles, it was not a ‘spend slip’ but it was the result of good governance that our government had given 171 thousand government jobs to the youth.
He said that due to good governance, every village is free from red tape.
Mr. Saini said that fear, corruption, nepotism and regionalism were prevalent in the previous governments.
However, Saini said that our government has systematically closed all avenues of corruption.
We have taken decisive steps like ending corruption in the name of CLU, ensuring government jobs only on the basis of merit, transferring employees online, stopping the misuse of kerosene by providing free gas cylinders to every poor household, and dealing with fraud. He said that ration distribution, pensions, allowances and subsidies have been arranged for the poor.
The chief minister said that the opposition leaders had spread false information claiming to close the portal after coming to power.
They are surprised that the common people have started benefiting from these portals now, he said.
