“Eight cadres of banned militant outfit Kanglepak Communist Party (KCP) (PWG) have been arrested from Manipur’s Kakching district in connection with the recent killing of two migrant workers from Bihar,” police said on Tuesday (Dec 17). 2024.)
“A manhunt was launched across Manipur on December 14 to nab those involved in the murder of two laborers and an active member of the banned outfit was arrested for the first time from Kakching Lamkhai area on Monday (December 16, 2024).” The statement said.
Based on his information, the police team raided the camp in Kakching Mamang Ching Lipham Loknung area and arrested seven more workers of KCP (PWG) from there. According to the police, arms and bullets and 10 mobile phones were recovered from them.
The KCP (PWG) is a faction of the banned organization Kanglepak Communist Party, which was accused of involvement in extortion and other crimes in the Imphal Valley. Chief Minister N Biren Singh condemned the brutal killing of young Bihar brothers, Sunalal Kumar (18) and Dashrat Kumar (17) in Manipur’s Kakching district.
“This act of terrorism is a direct attack on our values ββand my deepest condolences go out to their bereaved families,” he said. Mr. Singh announced a grant of βΉ 10 lakh to each bereaved family and said the case would be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), if necessary.
