Five people died in a road accident in UP’s Shahjahanpur

Shahjahanpur: Five members of a family were killed and five others were seriously injured when a car hit a truck in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district. Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh S said, “A family traveling to Delhi in an Ertiga car collided with an oncoming truck on Wednesday night near the Barkheda Jaipal intersection on the Bareilly-Etawah highway.”

Those who died are Riyazul Ali (45), Amna (42), Gudiya (9), Tamanna Anu (32) and Noor (6).

According to the police, Riyazul of Kant city in Shahjahanpur was involved in cloth trade in Delhi.

“The family had left for Delhi around 10 pm on Wednesday after attending a wedding. Sometime later their vehicle met with a fatal collision,” the SP said.

The police said that the truck driver was arrested and the vehicle was taken into custody.

Riyazul’s uncle Shamsher Ali said at the hospital, “The family had come to Shahjahanpur two days ago for a wedding and the tragic incident took place while returning to Delhi.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.

In the statement, he directed the district officials to ensure proper treatment of the injured and wished them a speedy recovery.
