Hours after Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena posted a video of his visit to Rangpuri Hills in southwest Delhi, Chief Minister Atishi also visited the neighborhood to highlight the poor conditions in the area.
In his video, Saxena, along with former AAP minister Kailash Gehlot who recently defected to the BJP, can be seen talking to female residents who tell him about the lack of cleanliness and amenities.
In a post on X, Saxena has written, ‘The smelly water collected on the roads and streets is not from rain but from flowing sewage. The women who share their problems and heartbreaking pain are from Delhi and not from any other state or country. It was very disheartening and disturbing to see the helplessness and miserable life of millions of people.”
“I request the former chief minister, the present chief minister and the concerned Delhi government ministers to visit these areas and see the hellish conditions for themselves. They should take immediate steps to improve this deplorable situation,” he added.
Saxena was accompanied by South Delhi MP Ramveer Bidhuri.
Meanwhile, at a press conference on Sunday when he was asked about the LG’s visit, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said, “I thank the LG for pointing out our weaknesses… Earlier, the Lt Governor had cited the poor condition of Nangloi- Mundka Road. The road has been constructed. And Chief Minister Atishi will soon inaugurate… I request the LG to see where we have not done enough and we will improve.
Meanwhile, the Delhi BJP hit out at the CM, calling his visit “rushed” and ineffective. “The Lt Governor’s social media post highlighting the poor condition of Rangpuri Hills seems to have angered the Chief Minister… He hastily visited the area without involving any official and gave big assurances… Atishi tried to mislead the people with false claims of reforms. 30 km on Rohtak Road distant projects,” said Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva.
