The District Development Committee (DDC) has sanctioned Rs 10.08 crore for five major projects under the Kasaragod development package.

The allocation is part of the ₹ 70 crore allocated in the state budget for the financial year 2024-25, with administrative approval now formally amended to include these projects. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of District Collector K Inbasekar on Saturday (December 21).

Among the approved initiatives, ₹ 4.99 crore has been allocated for the construction of Udaipuram Thungal road in Kottam Belur Gram Panchayat and ₹ 2.56 crore has been allocated for setting up a veterinary hospital in Kanhangad Municipality. Other projects include development of a smart Anganwadi building in Muliyar Gram Panchayat, infrastructure improvement at Karicheri GUP School in Pallikara Gram Panchayat and water supply scheme for Life Mission Flats in Chattanchal.

Mr. Inbasekar highlighted that the ₹ 70 crore allocated for the financial year 2024-25 represents an important milestone for Kasaragod. “The funding represents an important moment in addressing critical infrastructure gaps and enhancing the quality of life for local communities,” he said.
