Chennai: Chief Minister MK Stalin announced an additional allocation of Rs 400 crore for the Kalignaar Dream House scheme, which will ensure Tamil Nadu becomes a ‘slum-free state’ as eight lakh houses will be built in rural areas over the next six years.
The government had allocated Rs 3,500 crore to build one lakh concrete houses at the rate of Rs 3,50,000 per house under Sapnako Ghar Yojana for the year 2024-25. After that, during a survey for the initiative of the village council, it was found that there were 8 lakh huts.
