CLAT 2025 Counseling Postponed: The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) have announced plans to approach the Supreme Court seeking relief from the Delhi High Court’s directive to revise the CLAT 2025 merit list. In light of the ongoing legal proceedings, the consortium has informed the candidates that the CLAT 2025 counseling process will be delayed. The revised schedule will be issued after the decision of the appeal to the Supreme Court.
The Common Law Entrance Test (CLAT) 2025, held on December 1 for Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) admissions, published its final answer key on December 7. Later, many aspirants raised objections to the CLAT PG final answer key, pointing out alleged errors. They have also criticized the ‘unreasonable’ fee of Rs 1,000 per question for raising objections.
Responding to the writ petition, the Delhi High Court directed the consortium to revise the merit list published on December 7 on its official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in. On December 20, a single-judge bench ruled that the answers to two questions in the entrance test were incorrect and directed the consortium to update the merit list accordingly. Following this, the Division Bench of the Delhi High Court refused to reverse the Single Bench order.
In an official notice, the consortium said, “We have approached the Supreme Court for appropriate relief against this order on the earliest available date due to the ongoing court vacation.” As per the original schedule, the first merit list for admission was scheduled to be released on December 26, 2024. However, publication of the list and subsequent consultation process has been postponed due to legal hurdles. It is mentioned in the notification that the revised deadline will be issued after the appeal process in the Supreme Court is over.
