Bhopal:The BJP has faced a ‘minor’ setback in the ongoing organizational polls in Madhya Pradesh after nearly two dozen newly-elected block presidents were found not to meet the criteria set by the party for the post.
This is the first time that the party has faced such a shameful situation.
A complaint was filed against some newly elected presidents of the party’s mandal (block) for not being qualified for the post as per the criteria set by the party.
According to the instructions of the party, the age of the ‘mandal’ president should be less than 40 years.
However, it has been found that about two dozen newly elected board presidents are above 40 years of age, their documents have been verified, sources said.
“We strictly follow the party constitution and guidelines for organizational elections. Elections of some mandal presidents have been canceled after they were found not fulfilling the criteria,” said state BJP secretary Rajnish Agarwal.
There are 1313 mandals of the party in the state and elections have been held in 1122 mandals so far.
Sources said that the election of all booth committees of the party has been completed and the process of district president election has started.
The organizational election process in the state will be completed on January 15, 2025 along with the election of the state party president.
