Alec Baldwin, whose involuntary manslaughter case stemmed from the 2021 shooting on the ‘Rust’ film set in July, is now determined to tell his side of the story.
The incident that led to the deaths of cinematographer Helena Hutchins and wounded writer/director Joel Souza continues to haunt the actor, and Baldwin is committed to shedding light on the suppressed truths behind the shooting, according to Deadline.
In a recent interview, Baldwin expressed his determination to uncover the full details of the tragedy, stressing that “there’s more to come” in the coming months, Deadline reported. After years of allegations and media scrutiny, the actor emphasized his intention to “raise and expose what really happened”.
“I was counterpunching. I was on the defensive. I was accused. I was indicted,” Baldwin told Deadline, describing how he was forced to defend himself against damaging press coverage. And was challenging. Reflecting on how the press handled the incident, he said, “The press suppressed every story that benefited me and amplified every story that hurt me.”
Baldwin went on to highlight how the truth is not being told about what happened on set. He said, ‘It has been three years. And the truth of what happened has never been told.
He also shared his disappointment with the public’s response to the incident, saying, “People have just eaten. Because in this country, when people hate you to that level, they want three things: They want you dead. The second thing is, they want you to go to jail. These political mobs, both sides, like to see their enemies in jail for years because jail is like a living hell. And the third thing is, they want to cancel you,” according to Deadline.
Even though the involuntary manslaughter case against him was dismissed, Baldwin is determined to seek justice. He indicated that new legal filings would soon reveal more details about the case, adding, “We have more s– that will come out in legal filings and so forth.”

Baldwin also acknowledged that while the case was dismissed, the absence of a full trial meant there were important aspects of the case that remained unknown.
“I’m grateful” that the judge dismissed the case with prejudice, Baldwin admitted, though he also felt a jury trial would have been better for his defense. “We had a lot of things to present,” he added, according to Deadline.
Amid ongoing efforts to clear his name, Baldwin noted that he will take a break from the public eye to regroup before continuing his legal battle. “I’m going to take a break. I don’t want to talk about it for a while. I want to kind of take a nap,” Baldwin shared, indicating his intention to temporarily step back from the case before moving on to the next phase of his fight for truth.
The case against Baldwin was dismissed on July 12, 2024, after New Mexico Judge Mary Marlow Sommer ruled that the state had failed to disclose critical evidence to the defendants.
The judge’s decision also said the case could not be reopened.
