A case has been filed against a 29-year-old youth in Madurai for repeatedly physically abusing his eight-year-old stepson under the influence of alcohol.
District Child Welfare Unit Field Officer M. Based on the complaint filed by Puliyammal, the SS Colony police have registered a case against S Revant Kumar of Kochdai.
On Tuesday (December 24, 2024) 1908 after receiving a complaint on Childline, Puliyammal visited the field and spoke to the boy, who alleged that he was repeatedly beaten by Revanth Kumar with a plastic pipe. It is alleged that the accused woke up the child at 4:30 am on Tuesday morning and hit him on the back and legs with a pipe. He also chased the boy who could not bear the pain and started running away. The child was saved only after the neighbors intervened.
‘hot stick on thigh’
The field officer said in the complaint that the boy complained that Kumar did not allow his mother to eat food. When he was drinking, Kumar would ask the boy to buy cigarettes at night and beat him when he refused to go to the shop.
The boy also complained to the field officer that his stepfather pressed a hot stick on his thigh after some money went missing from the house a few months ago.
The accused has been booked under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 for coercion, using abusive language.
