Vijayawada: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has written to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asking him to take action on issues affecting 2.5 lakh village and ward secretariat volunteers. CPI(M) State Secretary V. Srinivasa Rao highlighted concerns over their welfare and financial security, citing delays in salary payments and unfulfilled promises of wage hikes.
Rao recalled his election manifesto promise to raise the salary of volunteers to Rs 10,000 per month. Despite their important roles over the past five years, many volunteers, including those with degrees and postgraduate qualifications, continue to serve on minimum wages amid high unemployment.
CPN has demanded immediate payment of salary arrears, implementation of the promised salary increase and guarantee of job security for all volunteers. They also urged the government to withdraw the forced resignations and reinstate the affected volunteers, prioritizing their welfare and stability.
