A 4-year-old boy who was playing on the road was killed in a car collision in Mumbai, the 19-year-old driver was arrested

A four-year-old boy was killed when a car hit him while playing on the road in Mumbai on Saturday (December 21, 2024) evening. The accident took place on Rafi Ahmed Kidwai (RAK) Road near Ambedkar College, next to which a slum has been demolished. The boy, Ayush Laxman Kinwade, lived with his parents and six-year-old brother in a shack that was yet to be demolished.

A police officer from RAK Marg police station said, “The incident took place on Saturday at 5.15 pm when the child was playing on the road. 19-year-old Bhushan Sandeep Ghole was in the driver’s seat. The boy was hit while he was reversing the car. At first glance, he was not addicted to alcohol. However, he did not run away from the crime scene. He was arrested on the spot. We have registered an FIR (First Information Report) under Indian Code of Justice (Section) 106 (negligence causing death) and (Section) 281 (relating to punishment for rash or negligent driving or riding on public road). which may endanger human life or injure others). Further investigation is underway.”

The deceased’s father works as a mandap decorator. “Today was their funeral so we could not call them at the police station. We have asked them to meet on Tuesday for further investigation. So far, no compensation has come to them,” said a police official.
