Five people, including three members of the same family, died when two motorcycles collided in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district, police said on Saturday.
While trying to hit two motorcycles, another motorcycle driver rammed his vehicle into a truck. Police said that three people were seriously injured in an accident near Mohaddipur Power Station on Friday night.
Vikrant, a 35-year-old resident of Mohaddipur Bijli Colony, was returning home after attending a family event in Jatepur North with his wife Nikita (30), son Angad (5), daughter Lado (1) and Pari, both infants. . When he returned to Nahar Road, his motorcycle collided with another motorcycle coming from Kundraghat, police said.
Vikrant and his daughter Monu Chauhan, 32, of Rustampur and Suraj, 28, of Betiyahata Hanuman Mandir area, were declared dead by the hospital. Police said that both Monu and Suraj had returned from a program.
The condition of Nikita, Angad and the third motorcyclist Chinmayanand Mishra is said to be critical and they are being treated at the BRD Medical College here.
District Officer Krishna Karunesh and Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Grover visited the accident site and the hospital and inspected the treatment of the injured.
