Amrit Bharat Station Scheme: The 136-year-old Bhilai railway station in Chhattisgarh was renovated

The Modi government at the Center has launched the Amrit Bharat Station scheme to modernize railway stations, with the 136-year-old historic Bhilai railway station undergoing renovation.

Other stations in Chhattisgarh are also involved in this scheme. As part of the initiative, the Bhilai railway station built in 1888 in Durg district has been renovated.

The station now boasts of improved cleanliness and facilities like AC waiting hall, all aimed at enhancing passenger comfort. A dummy engine has also been installed outside the station and a display has been installed near the ticket counter, depicting the changes made to the historic station since its establishment in 1888. This allows passengers to learn more about the historical significance of the station.

Proper parking has been arranged on the road leading from the station. Now the entire station has been developed.”

Further, DRM Sanjeev said, “Passengers will experience grandeur on arrival. Lighting has been improved and ceilings have been raised for a more spacious experience. Facilities like e-ATM machines are available for ticket purchase and train information. Other improvements.”

He also highlighted the addition of air-conditioned (AC) and non-AC waiting halls, ensuring access to all passengers. New platforms have been fitted with covered sheds to protect passengers from rain and sun. Both the station entrances have been revamped providing easy access, improved aesthetics and better facilities for passenger use.

A conversation with Jageshwari Soni, a railway employee who has been working at Bhilai station since 2017 ANI About the improvements, he said, “There have been many changes in the station over the years.
