A doctor from Chandigarh PGI saved the life of a former Indian Army soldier on a flight from Bengaluru to Delhi on Sunday.
Ritin Mohindra, Assistant Professor, Department of Acute Care and Emergency Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, PGI Chandigarh, was returning to Delhi from Bengaluru when the flight attendants declared an emergency on the Indigo flight.
The 44-year-old passenger was complaining of discomfort, headache and weakness in the left side of the body. We were about 1.5 hours from Delhi airport,β Dr Mohindra told The Indian Express.
βAn announcement was made asking if any doctor was on board as there was an emergency. I immediately asked the man about his history and medications and learned that it was suspected hypoglycemia,β said Mohindra.
He asked the crew to prepare sugar syrup and other sugary items saying that the sugar content was low. “After a few minutes, he recovered. After treatment, he recovered. I stayed with him for the rest of the time. He told me he was ex-army and thanked me for the immediate help. The crew asked if there was a need for an emergency landing, but the man had recovered,” the doctor said. said
The airline presented a token gift and a special note to Dr Mohindra for saving the life of the person on board.
