19-year-old drunk SUV driver in police custody after damaging five vehicles in Pashan Pune News

A Pune court on Thursday remanded a 19-year-old youth to police custody for driving an MG Gloster SUV under the influence of alcohol that rammed into five vehicles in Pune’s Pashan.

Police said that 40-year-old Pushkar Patil and his daughter, who live in a residential society on Baner-Pashan Link Road, were injured in the accident that took place at 3:30 pm on Thursday.

Patil registered an FIR at Baner police station. According to the FIR, 19-year-old Hrithik Sham Bansode had consumed alcohol and was driving an MG Gloster SUV at high speed from Nanavare Chowk via Pashan.

It is said that after Bansode lost control, the SUV collided with five vehicles one after the other from Nanavere Chowk, Baner to Shivshakti Chowk on Suse Road in Pashan area between 3.30 and 4 pm.

According to the police, a private bus, four cars and the vehicle in which the accused was traveling were damaged in the accident.

The police arrested the accused Bansode and registered a case under Sections 110, 281, 125 (a), 324 (5) of the Indian Judicial Code and Sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.

Deputy Inspector of Police Avinash Karad produced him in the district court on Friday. The police said that the accused is a resident of Baner and works to ‘take care of patients’.

The police said that he was drunk and drove the SUV at a high speed, endangering the lives of passengers on the road. The police took him into custody to find the owner of the SUV he was driving. The police said that they want to conduct a medical examination on him.

Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Amol Shinde has ordered the accused to be kept in police custody till December 7.
