The post-mortem report of the first year MBBS student who died during ragging by seniors at GMERS Dharpur Medical College and Hospital in Gujarat’s Patan district is still pending two weeks after the case was registered against the 15 students.

Anil Natwar Mathania (18) passed away on November 17.

Inspector PJ Solanki of Patan’s Balisna police station told The Indian Express, “The post-mortem was conducted by a panel of doctors and the cause of death along with the histopathology report of Anil Methnia is still awaited from the FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory). .”

After the anti-ragging committee of the medical college completed its investigation on the matter, a complaint was filed on November 18 based on the complaint of Dr. Anil Kumar Gokulsingh Bhatija, additional dean of GMERS Dharpur MCH.

The family is still waiting for an update at Methania’s home in Jesada, a small village in Dhrangadhra taluk of Surendranagar.

“We were asked to wait for 20 days. We are expecting the report by the 10th of this month,” Anil’s brother Gautam Mathania told The Indian Express. As the only point of contact was the local police, Gautam said, “We have not had any contact from the college, government or anywhere else.”

Another uncle Sandeep said, “We want justice for our son. We want behind this not suspension but dismissal of senior students and barring them from taking admission anywhere in the country or abroad.

The accused are Awadhesh Ashok Patel, Hiren Mansukh Prajapati, Tushar Pira Gohelkar, Prakash Madh Desai, Jaimin Savji Chaudhary, Praveen Varjang Chaudhary, Vivek Gaman Rabari, Rutvik Purushottam Limbadia, Mehul Pratap Dedhatar, Sarjal Ruda Gambhir, Vivek Kumar Baldani, Mehul Pratap Dedhatar. . Rawal, Parag Bharat Kalasaria, Utpal Shailesh Vasava, Vishal Lagdhir Chaudhary.

Inspector Solanki informed that all the accused are in judicial custody till November 5th.

According to the FIR, the first-year and second-year students had gathered in the common room on the second floor of Block B of the boys’ hostel “for introductions”.

Methania fainted and died on November 17 at around 12.30 pm. After that, the first year student submitted a petition to the dean saying that the senior had been standing and ragging for 3 hours.

After that, the anti-ragging committee submitted a report containing the statements of 26 witnesses.

The 15 accused were booked under BNS Sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 127(2) (false imprisonment), 189(2) (unlawful assembly), 190 (all members of unlawful assembly liable for the offence) and 296. (b) (obscene acts and songs).

Anil was the youngest of three siblings and had promised to come home soon to prepare for his sister Nidhi’s wedding in February.
