Intel will have a CEO with product expertise and experience on the product side of the business, interim co-CEO David Zinner said at the UBS Technology Conference on Wednesday.
Reuters reported on Tuesday that Intel has begun evaluating a handful of outsiders, including former board member Lip-Bu Tan, to take the reins of the struggling chipmaker.
Intel’s “core strategy remains intact”, Zinsner said at the conference, two days after the struggling US chipmaker announced the resignation of CEO Pat Gelsinger after growing impatient with the pace of costly turnarounds.
The company also needs a “significant cultural change” to be a successful foundry player and semiconductor business, said Naga Chandrasekaran, Intel’s head of foundry products and supply chain.
