Hyderabad: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy reaffirmed the Congress government’s commitment to make quality education accessible to all sections of society.
He emphasized on the need for government-led initiatives to uplift the underprivileged and to address the long-standing gap in the education system.
Uttam Kumar Reddy was addressing an alumni conference organized as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Dr BR Ambedkar Educational Institution at Baghlingampally on Sunday. The event coincided with the 10th death anniversary of Gaddam Venkataswamy, founder of the organization.
Uttam Kumar Reddy spoke about the launch of Young India Integrated Residential Schools, which aims to provide English medium education up to class 12. These schools, set up on campuses spread over 20-25 acres, will educate students from Scheduled Castes, Tribes, BCs and communities. Other underserved communities. “We have run these schools in 60 constituencies and plan to establish one in all 119 assembly constituencies. The government will spend around Rs 5,000 crore on this initiative,” he said.
