Two people were found dead inside a caravan parked at Karimbanapalam near Vadakara in Kozhikode district on Monday. According to the police, the deceased were Manoj and Joyal, the driver of the tourist vehicle and the cleaner, residents of Malappuram.

The incident came to light on Monday night after some local traders called the police to inspect the vehicles stranded on the road since Sunday.

Police sources said that the two persons from Malappuram and Kasaragod districts may have released carbon monoxide from the damaged air conditioner of the vehicle. Senior police officials reached the spot around 8 pm and inspected the vehicle. He said that more details can come only after the post-mortem.

The police also confirmed that both of them were returning to Malappuram leaving behind some tourists in Thalassery on Sunday. The police said that they may have stopped the vehicle to rest.

The body was identified on the basis of some documents recovered from the vehicle. Police officials also checked closed circuit television camera visuals from nearby locations to gather more details.
