The death toll in a tanker truck collision on Vankrota Ajmer Road in Jaipur on Saturday (December 20, 2024) has risen to 14, confirmed DCP West Jaipur, Amit Kumar.
On Friday (December 20, 2024), a truck loaded with chemicals collided with a tanker carrying LPG and other vehicles in a major fire incident.
Principal of SMS Medical College Dr Deepak Maheshwari said before the confirmation of DCP Kumar. ANI So far 13 people have died in the accident that happened early in the morning.
LPG tanker accident on Jaipur-Ajmer highway, 5 dead, 37 injured
Seven people were killed, over 35 injured and more than 30 vehicles engulfed in flames when a gas tanker and several vehicles collided with a section of the Jaipur-Ajmer highway here on Friday (December 20, 2024) morning. Black smoke filled the sky. Ambulances and fire engines were rushing to the scene of the accident when the fire started about a kilometer away, witnesses said. The driver of the school van on his way to pick up the students gave a horrified statement after seeing it engulfed in flames. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar were admitted to SMS Hospital with injured. Shri Sharma interacted with the administration officials and doctors and instructed to facilitate proper treatment. PM Modi has expressed his condolences
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences to the victim’s family. In a post on X, the Prime Minister’s Office condoled, “Deeply saddened by the loss of life in an accident on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Rajasthan. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover quickly. Local administration is helping the victims.” The Prime Minister has also announced Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
Sachin Pilot visited the victim under treatment
Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Saturday (December 21) met the LPG tanker explosion victims admitted to Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital and demanded a thorough investigation into the incident.
“Our condolences to the families whose members have died. SMS Hospital doctors are providing quality health care to the injured,” Mr. Pilot told reporters after meeting the victims.
“We must investigate the entire incident and its causes which led to such a tragic incident. Be it traffic rules, road construction, precautions to be taken on the highway, they should be studied, he said.
The pilot said that there should be a fair and transparent investigation.
‘We all know about the crash site. Why is the construction work not completed, who is the contractor and agency? The facts should be known after a detailed investigation,’ he said.
The pilot said that with the increase in the number of vehicles, accidents are also increasing in the country. “The government should think seriously about whether safety standards are being followed,” he said.

Friday (December 20, 2024) Superintendent of SMS Hospital Dr. Sushil Kumar Bhati noted that more than 60% of the victims were burnt in the fire and around 28 patients were admitted to hospital, of which 6 were on ventilators.
Describing the incident as “horrific”, Dr Kumar said, “The accident and subsequent fire took place this morning (December 20) on the main Ajmer Road in the Bankrota area of Jaipur. Nearly two dozen vehicles caught fire and several trucks and trolleys were reduced to ashes. Near a petrol pump An accident happened.
