Vijayawada: A step closer to implementing free bus travel for women in the state, the government has formed a group of ministers committee to study the “Free Bus Travel for Women” scheme, which has already been implemented in other states. The objective of the committee is to visit these states and examine the functioning of the scheme to develop a suitable model for Andhra Pradesh.
Under the chairmanship of the transport minister, women and children welfare, tribal welfare and home minister will be members of the committee. In addition, the Principal Secretary to the Government in the Department of Transport, Roads and Buildings (TR&B) will act as a coordinator for coordination of committee proceedings and meetings.
The committee has been mandated to submit its findings and recommendations to the government at the earliest, aiming to create an effective model for implementing the free bus travel scheme for women in Andhra Pradesh.
