The Hyderabad Book Fair attracted a record 90,000 visitors on Sunday

Hyderabad: Around 90,000 people visited the 37th Hyderabad Book Fair at the NTR Stadium on Sunday, nearly double the daily footfall, with people streaming in from the morning to browse books and enjoy cultural events over the weekend.

Dr Yakub, president of the Book Fair Society, said that the number of tourists has increased as students and family members come to the fair on holidays.

Sadiq Ali on stage, ‘What is Ambedkarism?’, ‘Tirupati Balaji is a Buddhist Shrine’ and ‘Dr. A number of books were released, including Ambedkar’s Envisioned Future of Caste. ‘Bodusu Telangana Stories – 2023’, edited by Sangishetty Srinivas and Veldandi Sridhar, was launched by Kaluva Mallya, which focused on preserving the storytelling tradition of Telangana.

Telangana Balotsava was one of the main attractions during the Boi Vijaya Bharti phase. A painting competition by Siri Art Swami and group dance by Anil Arts Academy entertained the audience. A special session titled ‘Shiro-Eminent Women’ conducted by Dr CA Prasad grabbed people’s attention.

BCom student and first-time visitor Kaumudi C said, “I usually read books online, but on the suggestion of my friends, I went to the fair. I loved the collection and bought ‘One Indian Girl’, ‘Stories We Never Tell’ and ‘Ikigai’. Mamatha Naidu from Kukatpally explored the stalls and bought ‘Silent Peace’, ‘Illusion’ and some fantasy books. “I will definitely come back next year,” she told the Deccan Chronicle.
